Announcing a brand new online Kendama competition brought to you by EyeFlow.

This will be the first of its kind and we are so looking forward to seeing what you all make of this.


The rules are simple:

  • To enter you will share a video on Instagram between the dates of 26 & 27 August 2022.

  • Latest upload by 7pm AEST (Sydney time) 27th of August

  • Entries must be a maximum of 3 uncut clips stitched together into one upload.

  • Slow motion is allowed.

  • No clip reversals

  • Each trick must start hanging and finish spiked (any grip)

  • The catch is that during the combo the Tama or the string may ONLY touch the big cup or relative part of the sarado.

  • The post must have #bigcuponly22 somewhere in the description

We hope to push creativity with this contest and inspire new possibilities in your play and way of approaching kendama.

Examples of tricks that are in:

  • Big cup Sara grip or ken grip

  • Lunar

  • Bird, under bird, Stilt

  • Flying V, c-whip with string touching the big cup side of the spike.

  • Slingers using the big cup.

  • String tricks like space walk, finger swirl, hand wraps, sweets special and goons are all in also.

If you are unsure about a trick please reach out and we will clarify.


Videos will be judged on 5 criteria:

  1. Creativity

  2. Diversity

  3. Flow

  4. Difficulty

  5. Execution

Please make sure the ken never leaves the frame and you have adequate lighting with a simple background that makes it easy to follow along with the tricks you are doing.

Entries will only be considered if they are uploaded on the dates of 26 or 27 August.

Open to entries from all over the world.


Random giveaways will be pulled on both days for all entries, early entries will be more likely to win these.

Prizes for:

  • Best entry

  • Runner up

  • Best trick

The best entry that meets the criteria as well as the runner up and best trick will win prizes provided by Krom Aus, LnG Skill Toys, Sweets Kendamas Australia as well as a secret prize from EyeFlow that will be announced soon.
